Ryman League - South
Three Bridges ( 2 ) 3 Tooting & Mitcham ( 4 ) 5
Away from the rigours of the Southern Combination, one turned to the Jubilee Field for a piece of Ryman League action, the lure being to see the league leaders, and their star man, a certain Billy Dunn goal scorer, and entertainer extraordinaire, an attraction guaranteed to put 'bums on seats', memories still linger of the entertainer playing for CDG in their short Ryman spell, before the 'lure of the lira' tempted him to greener pastures.
He is still the puppet master in 'pulling the strings' and tonight he showed his skills, the 'slight of foot', the wizard of the dribble, and the rasping shot from whatever yardage.
Back to ground zero now, and fireworks from Bridges, after Billy had opened the scoring for Tooting on 10 mins, the leaders were to be rocked with a two goal salvo by Bridges, but like all top sides sanity was eventually restored with a healthy two goal cushion by the interval.
Second half was notable as was the first, by the industry of the home side who belied their lowly status and could well have closed the gap even further, but the leaders were not for turning, and eventually closed the game down to eke out yet another three points in their dash to the Premiership Ryman style, well lets face it, with a Billy Dunn in your side, the world could be ones oyster!
