Division 1 Season Review

Postby jackofalltrades » Wed Apr 19 2017, 15:09

As a player who has played over 40 games this year and around 30 in SCFL Div 1, I thought I would give my opinion on some of the best and worst of the league:

Best Footballing Team - East Preston
Best Player Faced - Jared Rance & Lewis Hole
Best Ground - Billingshurst
Worst Ground - Midhurst
Best Pitch - Oakwood, Steyning, AFC Varndeanians all very good
Worst Pitch - Mile Oak
Dirtiest Team - Saltdean Utd
Best Fans - EPFC Ultras
Best Media Coverage - Lingfield FC
Big Timers - Little Common
Most Welcoming Club - Selsey
Least Welcoming Club - Saltdean Utd
Avg. Standard of Refereeing - 4/10
League Management - 8/10 (slow at releasing fixtures)

Interesting post, my thoughts:

Best footballing team faced - Steyning or Mile Oak
Best Player Faced - Lewis Hole, there were at least 5 others and each side had some good players.
Best Ground - Steyning
Worst Ground - Little Common
Best Pitch - Oakwood, Steyning, AFC Varndeanians all exceptional.
Worst Pitch - Probably St Francis
Dirtiest Team - I'll say most competitive, Saltdean, 2 very close games with them.
Best Fans - Selsey
Best Media Coverage - EP
Big Timers - EP
Most Welcoming Club - All were great, Storrington because of my association history or Billingshurst
Least Welcoming Club - Horley in the FA Cup
Avg. Standard of Refereeing - 8/10
League Management - 1/10 To start with 7/8 home games and finish with 8/9, away, not on really just my opinion

General thoughts: Overall a very enjoyable season (Easy to say when you win), I found all clubs had the same frustrations as usual such as fixtures and players committing but it was very competitive and the worst pitch wasn't St Francis fault, just the time of year and we are all looking forward to plying our trade with the big boys next year!

How funny. This time of year at Steyning we are used to winning the worst pitch award

Steyning like Lancing and Worthing are good but not a real pitch with all the problems associated with such.
