Southern Combination League - Premiership
CDG ( 2 ) 3 WORTHING UNITED ( 0 ) 0
( Glloga 07, Leslie 32, Belli 88.)

Anvils put aside their recent run of indifferent results with a welcome three points against midtable Worthing United at a sparse Haven Centre, clashing as it was with the local Xmas Fair in the village, priorities on this cold day obviously lay elsewhere!

Once again it was flankman Amar Glloga who got the show on the road after just 7 minutes when volleying home a Dan Sullivan special, on the half hour the score was doubled when inform Oli Leslie swept thro an open defence bypassing keeper Matt Evans along the way to slot home. 2-0 Anvils.

The Mavericks continued to press forward, but a combination of a solid back line, allied to the offside trap, rather nullified most of their efforts as HT was reached.

The Second half was a bit lacking in entertainment value, as both sides struggled to gain ascendancy, with the Mavericks having more of the play, whilst for the Anvils containment seemed to be the name of the game, only interrupted by Michael Belli
on 88 supplying the 'coup de grace', 'death knell', you name it!

With three more home games in hand at fortress Haven, to balance out the 'home and aways', then an upward surge up the league table is not an impossibility!
