Southern Combination League - Premiership
CDG ( 1 ) 2 PEACEHAVEN & TELS> ( 0 ) 0
( Wilson 20. Leslie 85.)

After a poor performance four days earlier against Pagham in the RUR, todays match against Peacehaven in the league, bought a complete turn round in Anvil fortunes, all this in front of a goodly attendance, aided by a healthy turn out from the South Coast..

First 20 mins looked ominous for the Anvils with the 'Tye' stamping their authority early, mainly thro flankmen Elliot Levy and the tall rangy Mike Lloyd, aided and abettered by midfielder Cameron Wiltshire, who all kept up a steady stream for the other front runners, but credit to the Anvils in nullifying this outburst.

As so often happens, the team under the 'cosh' suddenly break free, as happened on 20 for the Anvils, when from a thro ball from Lee Thomas, resrve team player Ben Wilson was able to slip thro the 'Tye's ranks, hold his nerve and slip the ball past exposed keeper Erickson Aga.

Suitably stirred the 'Tye' then took over the remainder of the half, but in spite of severe pressure the Anvils defence / midfield refused to yield as HT was reached. HT 1-0 Anvils.

The Second half followed a similar fashion, with the Anvils back on the 'ropes', but at the same time confidence was growing with Michael Belli getting on top of the 'Tye' midfield, the contest was now becoming really interesting, with both sides now throwing caution to the wind in an attempt to gather the points, but it was the Anvils who came up trumps, when on 85 substitute Oli Leslie out left then cut inside to fire across the face of Aga's goal to finish up in the far corner, for the final rites to be truly laid! FT 2-0 Anvils.

A good Anvil morale booster for the visit of near neighbours Three Bridges next Wednesday!
