ANVILS STIFLE LIONS ROAR
It took the Lions virtually all of the first half before finally finding their way thro the gallant Anvil backline, coming on 43 mins thro the abrasive Dan Simmonds, who earlier had been booked after a nasty clash with Anvil keeper Lorcan Healy whom luckily was able to resume.
Overall the Anvil defence gave a fine display against the free scoring Lions, whilst in midfield the supply lines were kept open to the Anvils front runners, who found it hard graft against the no nonsense Lion defenders, but were rewarded early on in the second half thro the youthful Ben Wilson driving home from out left, to put the Anvils back in the game.
The last 40 saw both sides throw caution to the wind in an attempt to grab the maximum, but it was to be the Lions whom eventually grabbed the spoils in the last 20, the Lions may have grabbed the points, but it was the Anvils who caught the eye with some neat inter passing, and their 'high line' that frequently caught out the rampaging Lions.
With the side now comfortably in midtable, this has given Manager Paul Cooper the chance to give the younger element in the club a chance to show their worth, and on tonight and previous occasions have shown that extra promise that augers well for the Anvil future.
After two consecutive defeats the Anvils will be hoping for redemption this coming Saturday when Littlehampton come a'visiting, please note KO 2pm! as reserves follow on.
