HALF SEASON RESUME

Postby Mike May » Sun Dec 30 2018, 18:48

Southern Combination League - reaches the halfway point of the season, when the business end really starts to get serious, casting a glazed eye as one does on the 'runners and riders' in the frame, we have at the moment three sides making a break for freedom with CHI and YMCA swapping places on a weekly basis, whilst dark horses NEWHAVEN plus the HARRY KANE ( don't mention Wolves )) / MO SALA of the Combination League namely LEE ROBINSON ( how does one stop this guy from scoring goals ) threatening to upset the top two.

One side who has caught ones eye, this season are recently promoted LINGFIELD a side currently enjoying a rich vein of form with six consecutive wins under their expanding belts, most visiting sides must cringe when their number comes up for the visit to THE LAIR, what with the undulations of the pitch, the support and of course DIXIE DEAN, just ask GOAT for details ( handy to have your dictionary nearby )

Just a single point behind come those fellow villagers CDG who currently share 7th position, a good solid outfit whom on their day can give anyone a 'run for their money' especially at the HAVEN CENTRE, however programme doubts could be addressed to the fixture list compiler that allows the ANVILS to finish the season with a second half programme that shows just six more home fixtures as against eleven away, and while one is at it why couldn't the Boxing Day game been against LINGFIELD with all its above average crowd potential, instead of as this season both games being over by mid November whilst the Boxing Day was left blank, and don't mention the month of April where four AWAYS are scheduled with nowt at home!

Right moaning over, time for tea, have a fantastic new year!

Heavens to Murgatroyd !

The litany of linkage between my good self and Lingfield FC as proselytized by the erudite luminary Mike May stuns one into slack-jawed somnolence and ploughs the same chimerical acres to the extent that the rhetorical soil has acquired the texture of low-grade mince. There is NOT a scintilla of truth in the assertion that I have or have had in the distant past any allegiance towards Lingfield FC.To suggest this is 'All my eye and Betty Martin'.

Does anyone know how many teams will be promoted for next season? There isn't much likelihood of a Sussex team being relegated from the Bostik South East Division, so how will the league be compiled? Will Crowborough and/or Tunbridge Wells transfer into our league, or will there be no teams relegated?
