LINGER YE NOT

With CDG having a rest day, it was time to visit our northern neighbours LINGFIELD or LINGERS as locally known at the dreaded LAIR a ground that could qualify as ' a difficult ground to visit', last week after a winning run of six matches they found themselves facing EUA, a team virtually 'cut off' from civilisation and firmly rooted in the nether regions of the table, a banker home win surely, but GOD moves in mysterious ways as the LINGERS found out when losing 4-2.

Today would be another poser, this time facing SALTDEAN a side currently sitting 4th in the table, which one would think would be the highest they could go this season, this being shown in their last game against CDG whom could count themselves unlucky not to have taking max points from HILL VIEW after twice going behind.

For todays game, played out against a raging wind blowing from the bottom end to top' the LINGERS took early advantage when from a gale driven cross from the left had keeper STROOMBERG flapping at the ball before same struck his back and rolled into the net, as they say 'they all count' 1-0 LINGERS.

For the rest of the half both sides battled the elements without further success, come HT and a mighty rush for that welcome cuppa, plus a SKY update on how the 'BIG BOYS' were fairing, plus a rerun of the first half of our game on DEphoto.TV.

For the second half ( those brave enough to face the elements ) the game continued to be 'end to end' with just one further goal for the Lingers coming from striker SAM CLEMENTS to give the LINGERS game set and match, plus a heady 7th position in the league.
