HOME SWEET HOME

With the CDG game off it was time to delve into the nether reaches of the Combination League - Division 2 to be exact, with near neighbours COPTHORNE ROVERS ( you know the one ROY and all that ), today was the day ROVERS would be playing their first HOME game of the season at the KING GEORGES FIELD, having spent the past two seasons living the life of a nomad.

Well PR'd for this this their first HOME fixture a healthy if somewhat frozen cliental of around the 100 mark, programmes £1 were ready for the OFF, the visitors being FERRING FC whose record this season gave the impression of a possible 'walk in the park', this turning out to be well wide of the mark, as it took the YELLOWS a good half hour before breaking the deadlock, conditions of a biting wind, lively ball, but a good playing surface produced an entertaining game, the visitors were mainly youngsters plus a few elder statesmen whom held their own till the last 10 minutes of the first half, when the ROVERS rattled in three goals to end the half. HT 3-0 ROVERS.

Second half was all COPTHORNE with the ball finding the net another half dozen times of which only the final two were declared legit, thus giving the ROVERS a joint share of top spot with fellow combatants ROFFEY, RUSTINGTON and ANGMERING SENIORS, this latest win was the ROVERS eleventh win from their last twelve matches, whether or not they get promoted could be a bit awkward as they do lack certain facilities, but at least they have their ground back, so why not just enjoy being HOME again.

MOM :- Stuart Cameron - a speedy left winger with an eye for goals!
