County league team of the season

Postby Smithy » Tue Apr 17 2007, 12:57

Div 1

Whitehawk – Current County 1 league leaders, FA Vase quarter-finalists, beating some good sides on the way.

Hassocks – Club rapidly improving, impressive displays this season have earnt a them a top 6 birth

Worthing United – To say league form hasn’t been great, would be an understatement. However, I felt that any team that reaches the FA Cup third qualifying round deserves to be on this list.

Div 2

Pagham – Predominantly young side, expected to be a midtable side, yet have romped away with Division 2

Peacehaven – Last seasons Division 3 champions. Currently in the promotion shake up and way above first season at this levels expectations.

Westfield – Crap facilities no expectations but somehow have a good side! Exceeding all expectations with a top 2 finish looking likely.

Div 3

Rustington – Record number of games won in a row was a great achievement. Certainties for the Division 3 title and promotion to senior football for the first time in the clubs history (ground grading pending of course)

Little Common – Many people relegation candidates this season, look well on course for a top 3 finish. Unluckly lost in the Sussex Intermediate semi-final too.

I think the amazing winning run does it for me, although I think Whitehawk did a great job to go so far in the Vase

Personally we should all be justifably proud of the achievements of both Whitehawk and Rustington for putting the SCFL on the national radar this season

May biased but i think Midhurst should be mentioned in same breath as Westfield and Peacehaven.

We have very little resources, not the best facilities and a very young squad that finished second bottom last year and will finish top scorers in the league and probably top 6.

Fair achievement i think.......

Very narrow poll Smithy.

All those teams have done very well, Eastbourne Town, and St Francis as well should be added for their great finish to the season.
I also thought we did reasonably well this season in Div 3?.

its only a game
