WHDSFL SUN 5TH MAY

CUP FINALS: SCFA CHALLENGE TROPHY
FC BOCA SENIORS 2-5 AFC SHOREHAM. FC Boca put up a good fight against AFC but 3 goals in a very short period of time early in the 2nd half was to be Boca's downfall. Boca took the lead thru Tom White only for Mark O'Regan to equalise to leave it 1-1 at half time. Then Boca gave away a penalty scored by Adam Steele, then O'Regan & Tony Burnett put AFC well in front and O'Regan completed his hat trick to make it 5-1, credit to Boca who did not give up and got a 2nd goal thru James Duffield. A good game played in the right spirit with no nastiness, thought ref Toby Pinesmith did well along with lino's. Whilst not wishing to make excuses for Boca's defeat but Mark O'Regan is top scorer in div 1 of this league and plays for Battle FC but on the day performed for somebody else. Am aware that can dual register and play in both County Cup comps but most leagues have something in place to ensure minimum number of games played to play in either semis or finals but SCFA don't!! Also Mark not listed in match program so presume very last minute call up. Shame Battle didn't have a game in league that day!!

Div Two Final: Broadwater Celtic 1-4 Hillbarn Athletic Reserves. Div Five Final: Dolphin 4-0 Durrington fc

One more final & a few league games to go!! Now to get ready for next season. Oh joy!!

Before we get all bitter about boca not winning because of the Mark O'Regan factor can I point out that Mark signed on for us before Xmas and since the turn of the year played as many games for AFC Shoreham as well as the Battle, I believe he has played 8 matches and scored 10 goals now tho 2 of them were against Raeburn in a double header who folded a few weeks after. Mark never played in the County Cup for the battle as was injured at the time with a broken foot.

Would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone at Culver Road and the Sussex FA for brilliant hospitality and all there help which made for a brilliant day and to Boca who were worthy finalists after a brilliant season for them, also wishing them good luck in division 1 next season.

Midfield M,
Not questioning his eligibilty as Scott Packer, although he didn't play but his other manager did phone to ask if he did!!, is also registered for a team in this league as well and imagine has played quite a bit for you guys. At the end of the day you scored more goals and that's what wins the game and do not want to sound like sour grapes. Boca know that their poor defending let them down regardless of who scored.

Scott Packer would of played had he of not got injured for littlehampton on Saturday, and has played for us before this season he scored 2 in the semi final. We have a lot of players signed on for us that are registered with other leagues like O'Regan, Packer, Ryan Walton, Chris Kelsey, Joe Shelley, James Wotherspoon, Jon Elliott, Graham Martin etc. Just annoying to see on the Worthing and Horsham league website and on here about insinuating that we had broke rules by playing Mark.

Midfield M,
I have not accused you or your Club of breaking any rules, you have stated why he was playing and have acknowledged that. I was just surprised to see one of the Leagues better players playing against us and of which he is entitled to do.
