Senior Cup

Jarvis Brook 2-1 Crawley Down

For the second week running we came from behind to win. After another slow start we found ourselves 1 down after giving away a needless penalty. James Pett levelled within five minutes with a stunning free kick and from then on we controlled the game but were unable to put away any chances untill Darren Longley cut inside and found the far corner from 18 yards with ten minutes left.
My nose is not big, my face is just small!!!

Senior Charity Cup

Balcombe 2 vs 0 Forest

Balcombe got back to winning ways after 3 defeats agaisnt struggling County Div 3 Forest.

After our last few performances we needed to put in a good performance agaisnt a youthful Forest side (Only 2 players over 20). The first half was quite even with the Balcombe Defence doing a great job of restricting Forest, letting them only have one effort from 20 years which came off the bar. Balcombe also had one decent chance with was headed over from close range.

HT: 0-0

Balcombe came out at half time the strongest, and continued to press and where rewarded on about hour mark with some poor defending from forest as they failed to clear a free kick. about 10 minutes later Balcombe where awarded a pentalty which was put beyond the keepers reach.

A good performance which puts us in good shape for a showdown with Wisdom Sports next week.

Senior Charity Cup

Wisdom Sports 0 - 4 Maresfield

Disappointing day at Victoria Park where the team that took there chances won the game, both sides saw a Red card and plenty of yellows in some very committed challenges.

Balcombe away next week followed by a return match against Maresfield in the league will complete a tough October.

Brighton League Div 1

Constant Service 0-5 Whitehawk United

A comfortable victory for United which could have easily ended in double figures.
Jamie 'Codeye' Boyce grabbed a hat-trick, sub Ski getting he's first for the club and centre half Scott Wheatland scoring a chip which everyone but him would say was a cross. Some decent football played at times and a lot less moaning which is good to see. Constant rarely troubled and I don't recall them having a shot on target during the 90 mins.
A much needed win and a decent performance after a couple of dodgy weeks.
Next week's game against Hair Razors is huge and already looks a title contest (although a few other sides might have something to say about that). Then 4 home games on the trot in November.

Other Brighton league results

East Sussex Premier Division
Polegate Town 5-4 Robertsbridge United

Entertaining game, which saw Polegate go deseveredly 0-2 down after 30mins, but somehow managed to go in level at HT. Robertsbridge again took the lead early in the 2nd half, but Polegate then dominated the game going 5-3 up with 10mins to go. Robertsbridge pulled one back in injury time with vitually the last kick of the game.

Goals: Mark Standen, Mark Davis, Lee Lock (2), Louis Dixon

East Sussex Division 6
AFC Sidley 1-2 Polegate Town II

Polegate took the lead early, and was a pretty uneventful game until injury at the end of the game. Sidley got an equaliser in the 3rd min of injury time, and as they pushed on after that in search of a winner, Polegate broke away and scored with the last kick of the game.

Other East Sussex Premier results:
Hollington United 11-0 JC Tackleway
Peasmarsh & Iden 3-6 Sedlescombe Rangers
Peche Hill Select 15-2 Hospital Social

Lindfield had 2 wins 2 defeats this week....

Senior Charity: Lindfield 1 - 2 Old Vs aet
The fronts went out at the first hurdle with a slightly understrength side against Old Vs. Phil Elkins scored for the Swans to make it 1-1, before Old V's scored a penalty in the 119th minute to take the tie before penalties.

MS Div 6: Nutley 2 - 3 Lindfield III
3 wins in a row now for the thirds, Senadhira and Jimmy Elkins put us 2 up early but Nutley dug in as the pitch worsened. Vinny Foyle got the MoM for in a battlind display with Senadhira getting a 2nd to make it 3-1. Nutley kept going well and got another goal in stoppage time.

MS Div 9: Lindfield IV 1 - 2 Burgess Hill Albion
A controversal game this one which the ref decided to play 40 minute halfs?!? Lovelock scored for the Swans.

MS Div 10: Lindfield V 3 - 2 Heath Rangers
A brace from leading scorer Smith and a Crouch freekick earned 3 points for the 5ths who keep up their 100% start to the season.
Up the Swans!!!

Dormansland Rockets 3-0 Frankslands Village

Dormansland did not really expect to be pushed on Saturday by Frankslands village untill the Rockets very own J.R. decided to behave like a petulant child and get himself dismissed within 10 minutes of the games opening! This made the tie a different affair but with goals from Twinn and Arrow (2) Dormansland secured another 3 points.

Phoenix should be a much more difficult game next week and one that we are all looking forward to having been disappointed with the quality of the only other Crawley team we faced this season.

Senior Charity Cup

Forest Row 4-1 Ringmer

Forest Row did enough against Ringmer .
2 powerful first half headers from Duncan Weeks saw Row go in ahead at the break.
A neat finish from joel baker put the game beyond doubt and Ben Burns came on and scored a powerful effort from 20 yards to seal the win and set up a tie against Jarvis Brook in the next round.

Phoenix entertained local boys Galaxy in the cup this week, it was not
a game for the footballing purists and both teams failed to carve out any
significant chances. Then for some unknown reason Phoenix decided to literally hand the tie to the visitors, giving them 3 goals and missing 2 sitters one has to be miss of the decade from Manville who when clean through keeper stranded he missed the open goal.
It’s an old cliché but galaxy scored their goals at the right time and had Manville leveled the scores manager Candlish thought they would have gone on to win comfortably. The referee said he does not know how a side that has 75% possession can let in 4 goals (that’s as many as we have conceded all season)
We have put this down as a bad day in the office, it was the first time Galaxy had ever beaten hoenix and fair play to them, we with them well in the next round.

This week champions elect Dormansland Rockets visit Magpie Wood, with the pith in fantastic shape for football the home side will hope to put up a better performance for our East Sussex visitors.

If you are hoping to do some scouting on them you will be disappointed as naturally its been written with a bias on our own performance, which was rubbish.
