The game was moved to our place as Towns pitch was unfit. A lively but fair local derby between two commited sides. Towns front two caused early problems as did Liam Miller once Mozza had calmed him down!! and then put him up front.
Booth put Town ahead after a break away from a Brook corner, Russ Anderson levelled things up before the break with a 25 yard shot which bent from one side of the goal to the other (a shank off the ankle me thinks!)
Town went 2-1 ten minutes into the second half through Liam Miller (i think too many bodies in front of me)
The Brook kept pressing but could not break though Mozza and his defenders and Town looked to kill us off on the break, hitting the post 5 mins from time.
On another day we would have taken something but all in all another improvement from the boys who lost 4-1 to Uckfield earlier in the season.

Sussex Intermediate Cup 4th round
Petworth 2 St Francis Rangers reserves 1
Fantastic team performance from us, everybody worked thier socks off against a team who kept the ball for fun but never at any stage got behind our back 4. Rob Levett put us in front after ten mins, St Francis equalised just after half time following a goalmouth scramble, but Levett got the winner with a header after the keeper came for a cross he was never going to claim. Into the quarter finals now facing either Bosham or Arundel res away

Town Reserves 2 - Jarvis Brook 1
Firstly I would like to say thank you to all involved at Jarvis Brook for letting us reverse this fixture due to our pitch being unplayable.
Town stopped their mini-slide with a well-fought victory against their local rivals in what was never going to be an easy game. We started the game the stronger of the two teams up the hill and took a deserved lead when a cracking through-ball from Liam Miller released top goalscorer Booth to put us one nil up.
Town were coming under a bit of pressure at the end of the first half and conceded a goal to level the score at half time. We knew that going down the hill in the second half, the onus would be on us to push the game to Brook. We duly did just that with a fine move down the left resulting in a good finish from Liam Miller. Town's defence seemed to handle most of what Brook could throw at them apart from one chance which went over the cross bar.
Liam Millers second half performance deserved another goal and he had the keeper beaten" all ends up" with a stunning effort from 20 yards that hit the post with 5 minutes to go! A second goal would've been what the majestic Miller duely deserved!
Town progress through to the semi-final where they will meet Old Vards in a repeat of last years SF.
Thanks again to phil and all the lads up there for making the game happen.

MSFL Prem Division
FVFC 1 - 3 Old Varndeanians
The first half saw OV's camped in the Village half but creating few clear cut chances and Village saw it out until HT. The second half saw OV's get the break through and then two individual errors handed them a second and third before Dave Jackson replied for us.
Our reserves had their game at Cuckfield Town III's called off for an unplayable pitch, the only pitch in Mid Sussex to be called off even though the council website said it was fine so not best pleased. The cynic would say that a club that has already had issues raising players for fixtures had the same problem on Valentines day . It now leaves 11 league games and a minimum of 1 cup game still to be played.

WSFL Div 2 North
Watersfield 3 - 3 Faygate Utd
A good game to watch this one thought we were unlucky on the day, 3 times we led and 3 times we were pegged back, Watersfield are always a threat two strikers who are fast with quick feet and know where the net is.
On the day though we dominated the play for large parts of the game and created a bundle of chances.
Watersfield keeper got the equaliser in the last minute of stoppage time coming up for a corner...gutted!

Monty 2nd Round; Heath Pilgrims 2 - 5 Lindfield
The lads bounced back from lasts weeks defeat at Balcombe with goals coming from Dodds, Reason, Pullinger, Irvine and Gray. Both Pilgrims goals coming from the penalty spot but the holders were apparently not in danger at any point in the match and the win us into the quarters. Dorking's win sets up an intriging semi final for the lads in the senior charity cup as well.
Edgar German: Lindfield II 2 - 4 Roffey II
A really poor performance from the 2s here but all credit to Roffey who worked hard and played some nice football to claim a deserved win (despite being the league below). We actually started well and dominated the first 20 mins, missing a few chances before a neat passing move was ended with a 25 yard screamer from their centre forward. We never really responded and went in one down. Second half was more of the same, we gave Roffey way to much time on the ball (or simply gave them the ball for the last two goals) and they punished us well. A header from MOM Steve Shaldoum and a Barry Fuller penalty for us. Need to pick it up next week. Fairplay to Roffey though as they thoroughly deserved the win.
Div 6: Lindfield III 4 - 0 Fairfield
A solid performance from the thirds keeps them in league contention. A brace each from Lucas and Mowforth earning the 3 points with the latter also MOM. Game could have been different though as keeper Robb made a superb penalty save at 1-0.

Same as our II's 11 league and one cup to go.... anyone heard anything about them splitting the mid sussex leagues? 5 sides in div 3 have played under 10 league games!

Splitting leagues shouldn't need to happen. If you take div 3 as probably the worst example of a backlog, the last time the leagues were split 2 years ago, after the last 'proper' div 3 league matches on March 10, there were still 54 fixtures left. This season, 3 weeks earlier, there are only 51 left. In the biggest division (prem), the figures are 69 on March 10 2007 and 65 as of now this season (assuming Hassocks goes ahead tonight). I.e. despite the bad weather this winter, we are still about a month ahead of 2007-8 (partly because the size of most divisions has been reduced).
IMHO splitting should be a last resort - it makes a mockery of the whole season at both ends of the tables.
Now the controversial bit. No-one can legislate for decent cup runs generating a backlog and some pitches will always be more susceptible to postponement than others. The real question is what should happen to clubs who year in year out have matches called off at the first hint of a bit of . and are always at the root of the backlogs. We all know who they are ....

There is a League meeting on the 27th Feb to discuss the RESPECT campaign, also on the agenda there will be a discussion about the number of matches remaining due to weather cancellations. I cant see the leagues being split personally, there are a few teams that have lots of games left but equally alot that are on schedule.

If I am correct in my thinking all leagues must be resolved by the date of the FA Cup final, in which case this would leave 12 Saturdays so we could just about do it if no further games are called off (if only playing Saturdays), but I imagine the Easter period/April will see many teams playing twice a week so most leagues should be played out to their conclusion.
I do agree with Maresfield till I die about the league not being split in two even if it did work in our favour the last time this occurred.
