What are peoples thoughts about Steven Gerrard as the new skipper?

Personally I wanted him in the first place and I believe (hope) it will inspire him to perform to a superior level for England and lead by example, much like Beckham did.

However, is the role of captaincy overrated and not that important? Or would it have been better to give it back to JT seen as though Wayne Bridge isn't around?
