Who would you prefer in Round 2

Postby Chopper » Fri Jun 16 2006, 12:12

As we all know, now we're through, it's either Germany or Equador...

Who would people prefer to get, as I don't think Equador are the push-over people (myself included) thought they'd be?

I think perhaps the Germans have been less impressive than Equador, so I'm starting to lean towards them as the preferred round 2 opponents. Defensively weak and to be exploited.

I'm not sure to be honest, Ecuador have done well but I'd like to think we've got enought to deal with them and beat them.

I think we're a stronger side than the germans, but it worries me cos they've always been jammy bastards and got home advantage!!

Germany V England could be a perfect final!

I'm heading to Germany next Thursday, so can't wait to find out whether I'm heading to Frankfurt or Munich and who our opponents are gonna be!!

ill happily take an unconvincing 1-0 win over Equador!

Am I not right (Graham Taylor quote) in thinking that we cannot meet the Sausage Munchers in the final.

If we don't get em in the last 16 I'm pretty sure the only other time we can play them is the final.

just seen the Argies whip S&M (get it) 6-0, they were awesome, buy far the best performance of the tournament so far. Their second goal was one of the best ever in a world cup, the BBC are comparing it to Carlos Alberto's goal against Italy in 1970 it's that good.

yes we can because the only time u can meet someone from your group again after you both qualify to the last 16 is in the final. so say sweden qualify and get germany we could only play sweden again in the final, therfore we could only play germany in the final too. so with any luck they beat sweden and play us in the final. repeat of 66? rooney hatrick in final?

The way I see it, we could have a nightmare scenario as it stands to get to the final.

Win the group and play Germany in the 2nd Round, Portugal or Holland in the Quarters, and Brazil in the semi.

In a tennis draw format, this is how I see the 2nd round looking -

Ecuador v Sweden
Argentina v Mexico
Italy v Australia
France v Ukraine
Germany v England
Holland v Portugal
Ghana v Brazil
Switzerland v Spain

out of all those teams the only one I would think could pose any threat would be the Argies, and we can do them because Beckham hates them and will fire up all the boys, the rest of the teams are well beatable by England, even Brazil!

COME ON ENGLAND!
