Sussex Floodlit Cup

Postby Hampshire Hornet » Wed Aug 17 2016, 07:53

I would be grateful if someone might help with a bit of background info re the Sussex Floodlit Cup. I'm told that the SFC was born out of the short-lived Sussex Professional Cup during the early-mid 1970s but I'm wondering, not only if that's correct, but if it was by invitation only to begin with as it would appear that my team, Horsham, went straight into a semi-final pairing with Brighton in that first season. In subsequent years Horsham participated in the Gilbert Rice Trophy, rather than the SFC, which made me wonder whether the GRT took the place of the SFC or was an entirely different competition? Any info would be gratefully received.
