Was anyone else at the Boro v Welling Fa Cup tie?
I'm pleased Boro went through but have to say that from where I was sitting, I think Lee Hook may be a very lucky boy.
Whilst his collision with the Welling player may not have been quite in the Harald Schumacher class, it looked like a red card to me. More stunning was the decision to give a free kick outside the box rather than a penalty - was the fact the prone, barely conscious and certainly not moving player lying almost completely in the penalty area (except for his head - which was still just about attached to his body but outside the box) not clue enough to where contact occured?
When the trainer ran on, I fully expected him to take out a piece of chalk and draw around the body.
To add insult to injury, the free kick came to nothing and Boro immediately went up the other end and scored!
If you seek proof of the existence of a just deity - this was not the place to be looking. Either that or god hates Welling!
Any other view?
