If I am correct in my thinking all leagues must be resolved by the date of the FA Cup final

This is correct and the cup final is the 30th of May i think very late this year which is good news for all!

In that case we have even more weeks to play as I made my assumption on it being 18th May- could cause a few issues with the cricketers in peoples clubs though!

The last post about the senior chatity cup just reminded me we are still in that cup, last round played in November next match probably April stupid cup!
Dorking Wanderers have got to be fav's to win the whole thing, them and BBH in the final i suspect.

Roffey 9 Newick 0 - Div 2

Another good win for Roffey and the goals spread about throughout the team. Andy Lampard chipped in with another two, other scorers included Maggs (2), Nicky Duggan, Steve Knight, Tony White, Aaron Jeal and Wayne Powell.

We would like to praise Newick for the way that they continued to try and play football to the end. This was probably Roffey's best footballing display of the season. Also would like to thank them for staying after the match and enjoying Gill's post match meal of Pasta, Curry, Chips etc. She was still cooking more two hours after the game.

It now leaves 11 league games and a minimum of 1 cup game still to be played.

Same as our II's 11 league and one cup to go.... anyone heard anything about them splitting the mid sussex leagues? 5 sides in div 3 have played under 10 league games!

Splitting leagues shouldn't need to happen. If you take div 3 as probably the worst example of a backlog, the last time the leagues were split 2 years ago, after the last 'proper' div 3 league matches on March 10, there were still 54 fixtures left. This season, 3 weeks earlier, there are only 51 left. In the biggest division (prem), the figures are 69 on March 10 2007 and 65 as of now this season (assuming Hassocks goes ahead tonight). I.e. despite the bad weather this winter, we are still about a month ahead of 2007-8 (partly because the size of most divisions has been reduced).

IMHO splitting should be a last resort - it makes a mockery of the whole season at both ends of the tables.

Now the controversial bit. No-one can legislate for decent cup runs generating a backlog and some pitches will always be more susceptible to postponement than others. The real question is what should happen to clubs who year in year out have matches called off at the first hint of a bit of . and are always at the root of the backlogs. We all know who they are ....

I would start by having a even number of sides in each league and restrict clubs to 2 cup competitions each.
