Steve King sacked.

Postby guerrero » Wed Feb 17 2016, 23:02

Where did that come from?
Since the New Year Whitehawk have only had two league games that have been completed and one that was abandoned because the lights failed.
They haven't picked up many points, but they haven't played many games.
Of course they have dropped down the league.Other teams have been playing and picking up points.
Whitehawk can still comfortably finish in a playoff place.
If poor results are to blame then King should have gone at Christmas.
There haven't been many results since.
Whitehawk used to stick by their managers.
It shows what money does to a club when it is brought in by outsiders with no idea of what a clubs history is all about.
I don't know Steve King.
I do know he has been badly treated.
I still haven't found what I'm looking for!

I see that Lance Cronin is taking over as the Assistant Manager until the end of the season? I am not sure who the Manager will be though.

I think the current Assistant Manager Pablo Asensio will continue for the rest of the season. Re: King's sudden departure, he's never left any club other than in controversial circumstances has he? Lewes (twice), Farnborough, Northwich Victoria, Macclesfield Town, and now Whitehawk. At face value it looks like a knee-jerk 'ungrateful' decision by the club, given what he's achieved there (albeit with a sizable budget) but with King I cannot help wondering whether there is more to this than meets the eye. Time will tell.

Steve King has a good record at the non league level he has managed. Whether or not he has had a good budget does not come into it. The clubs set the budget not the manager. You still have to coach the squad & get results. Wrong time of the season really for Whitehawk.

I am always suspicious when the assistant manager stays after the manager has been sacked.
King kept them up,got them to the playoff final and had the best FA Cup run in the clubs history.
They are still capable of making the playoffs.
Are the board upset that they haven't been able to buy the promotion they crave?
King hasn't spoken yet.
I wonder if he will?

He definitely has a good record, no disputing that. Yes, the club does set the budget in theory, but this can also be influenced by the manager. A good budget will also buy better players, obviously and Whitehawk have a very good squad (not sure how true this is but I have heard rumours of a weekly wage bill of £15,000-£20,000). As for the coaching, I'm also not sure how much of this King actually does. His real strength has always been getting good players in. I'd just like to see how he'd get on at a club where the budget really is tight, and he has to manage a small, young squad rather than an experienced team of ex-pros.

Steve King is also an agent for a few players, so expect the mass exodus of players anytime soon!

Lost 6-0 to the bottom team.
Not enough players to fill the bench again.
Nine points from a relegation spot....loads of games in hand though.
Off the back of the Worthing result it is looking shaky.
I hope the present regime stay the distance, because we all know what will happen if they don't.
I still haven't found what I'm looking for!
