Hush Hush your in Horsham

Postby crossbar1 » Wed Feb 24 2016, 23:23

I've watched YM and Horsham on and off for years but according to the Eastbourne Town website their fans have been told via email to the club from Horsham that no musical instruments , no drums ,klaxons ,air horns , whistles ,or any object deemed dangerous , what sort of club are you ,no noise , fans must speak in whispers ,the ref can't blow his whistle ,slippers must be worn as shoes could be dangerous if you kick someone ,gloves must be worn in case someone gets poked in the eye ,masks must be worn to stop the spread of dangerous diseases ,and no slamming of car doors ,any farting is frowned upon to ,I'm not sure wether it's a football ground or a library , what happens when half of the crowd fall asleep and start snoring .

Another swipe at the Horsham clubs, 'crossbar'?
As far as I'm aware this is a long-standing ruling of YM and one that is, I believe, implemented for the benefit of the locals whose homes, I'm sure you know, skirt the perimeter of the ground and is not unlike the arrangement that is in place for kicking off midweek matches at 7.30pm to avoid light disruption late in the evening. Rest assured, though, if you are unable to control your bowel movements then you will be free to emit your bodily gasses as freely and frequently as if you were in your own home. If you could make sure you're stood on your own at the time, it would be greatly appreciated

Funny you should say that bowel and bladder problems I have a plenty , that's why people say I talk a load of sh-- and bollo--- but it's all in the name banter . Or when I'm in Horsham quiet banter,Gorings Mead is a nice ground to go to ,and I've spent many an hour watching football there and your two sides are good to watch ,so I don't always knock your clubs ,but just pick up on bits of reports on forums and Twitter . And I agree with Peter Buckland about Littlehampton they bully refs into making decisions in their favour , ie their bench and players keep on at him , players rolling around squealing like babies , but to be fare the three or four games I've watched Horsham their bench do the same and it's all to intimidate the poor old ref . Then I suppose it all goes back to seeing this which I call cheating on the tele .

how are Horsham and or Horsham YMCA's people going to control this, will the ref stop the game if supporters make too much noise! , football is about the fans, Eastbourne have a very vocal and noisy following which makes for a great atmosphere both at home and away games, Horsham also have a very vocal following, Horsham YMCA have been at Gorings Mead for many a season, and I have never heard of this before, are a few porkies being told!!

Perhaps they will have noise marshals , and a few sheriffs and deputies . Strip searches at the gate . Or some drum sniffer dogs .Its all turning into a farce .

It seems there may be some truth in this. Town fans on twitter yesterday were showing the design of their new stickers, with the words "Stickers for the Horsham game are at the printers, try banning these!' I've been to many a league ground where they've banned musical instruments but this is the first time I've ever heard of it at Step 5- although to be fair there aren't that many Step 5 clubs where I've heard drumming etc in the first place, The Saffrons being an exception.

Thank goodness for the residents of Horsham that neither club drew Hereford at home in the Vase.

Step 4 or 5 does not matter, it is the local residency rules for games to take place at GM that do not allow instruments. Bognor had to refrain from using their drum when they visited for a SSC tie.

I believe Whitehawk were also sent a similar notiice about the non use of drums prior to their visit to Culver Street, for exactly the same reason.

Were there to be "noise marshals", "a few sheriffs and deputies", "strip searches" and some "sniffer dogs" then it would, indeed, be "a farce". The reality is that there won't be so let's not turn this into something that it's not by posting ridiculous comments such as this.

It's a shame that this issue is being allowed to distract from what promises to be a massively entertaining match between two sides with ambitions for the title, and whose passionate supporters will generate a terrific atmosphere....with or without an orchestra.

How can you ask people not to bring drums etc into a ground it's a football match,it's not an offensive weapon! if the residents don't like it then I'm afraid they will have to move,( I presume they knew they had moved into houses near a football ground) didn't Horsham used to play right next to Gorings Mead, did the noise not reach those residents then! I'm not trying to stir things up but what will happen if Horshan gain promotion into the Ryman South, will these same rules apply? Maybe a new ground grading rule will need to be introduced! Also does this also apply to YMCA or only Horsham? What if Both sides managed to get through to the FAVase semi final and played each other or the later rounds of the FA Cup and get drawn at home against a Premier/ football league club,

Townsendaround.
They wouldn't know what had hit them, I think they are averaging nearly 3k at home in Step 6/7 and take nearly a 1000 to away games if the grounds are big enough,
I think you need to cover the Horsham v Eastbourne Town clash, promises to be a great occasion, 2 very good sides battling for top spot and promotion up to Ryman South.

This isn't a specific ruling made up for the benefit, or otherwise, of Eastbourne Town! The same rules (which are the responsibility of YM and one which HFC, as tenants, also have to comply with) did apply when we were in the Ryman, were readily accepted by visiting clubs, and would still apply if either Horsham side were to reach the Vase semis. I'm not necessarily saying that I agree with the regulations but it's no different to those grounds that ban flags, selfie sticks and the like. The host club reserves the right to implement such restrictions as it is they who have to deal with the complaints/fall-out.

I've just seen on Twitter a copy of an email sent to a Eastbourne Town supporter from Horsham District Council in reply to a request about noise restictions at Gorings Mead , there are no such restrictions on , and I quote Drums, Horns ,whistles ,funny that .
