GUN FIGHT AT THE OK CORRAL
If its firepower and excitement you were seeking, then the Haven Centre would have been your venue Saturday, all this in a par excellence display of attacking football where both sides threw caution to the wind in not only outscoring the other, but both determined to not only nail the bragging rights to the mast, but also claim that runners up spot behind the rapidly disappearing ( into the sunset ) HH outfit, If more games like this become the norm, then one can visualise the 'ground full' notices being dusted down and put on display if the Anvils continue with their latest renaissance!
As to the game itself, not the best of Anvil starts when conceding after just 3 minutes, but Anvil strike partners Sam Cane ( what a revelation ) and fans favourite Oli Leslie hit back inside the first 15 to put the Anvils in the driving seat, only for Oaks Kieran Purkiss to restore parity on 31, but not to be outdone Leslie then added a third on HT. 3-2 Anvils.
On 54 Cane then put the Anvils further ahead to make it 4-2 surely game set and match, not yet as the Oaks piled forward in numbers with the burly Jack McNab reducing the arrears on 80, with just a single goal separating the sides and spectators gasping it was game on, but in the tense final minutes Ben Brooker became a Haven hero when bursting thro to sidestep Oaks keeper Jess Grimstone and supply my favourite 'coup de grace' as well as the points... FT 5-3 Anvils.
