Horley Town Reserves 3 Horsham YMCA Reserves 0

Having seen the away game a few week ago when it ended three two to Horley with both teams playing some great football, I was looking foward to this game. Again both teams tried to get the ball down and play the football but not in the same League as last time. Town took the lead from the penalty spot (See the goal on Horley U Tube site) when Matt Scutter fired home.In the second half first town hit the upright and then YM had a shot go just wide of the upright. In the second half Dean O 'Keefe made it two nil to town.
Sub Hogan scored goal number three with five minutes left to make the final score three nil.

Thought this was a cracking advert for Suburban football when all was said and done. Horley thoroughly deserved their win having made far fewer individual errors and showed a clinical edge when presented with an opportunity. The pen seemed soft and this was verified by the Horley lads in the bar afterwards but hey, that's the way it goes sometimes. The pleasing thing from a YM perspective was the discipline shown by the players in trying to retain posession of the ball and not just lump it over the top, even when the game was all but lost. 3-0 is a bum kicking whatever way it's dressed up however there really were positives to take from the game despite the scoreline. Bottom line was two individual errors were pounced on and this was ultimately the difference on the day.
Horley are well drilled, very hard working and this young squad is a credit to the football club. They have one or two who are perhaps currently behind the others in their development but their good attitude coupled with a coach who knows his beans will see them continue to progress. Great banter between the dugouts, officials and much appreciated hospitality afterwards.

Our young YM side have lost two on the bounce now and are being asked some questions. Lets see if hard work at training tonight can help provide some answers.
