Are the football club in financial difficulties again, hopefully not especially after the progress they have made with promotions and cup success, but one must ask the question why sell the 'crown jewels' when the team is or were doing so well in the league.

I could imagine that with overheads and wages plus the poor support must have a negative effect on the club as to how far they can go, i read that Steve Evans was none to pleases to see Barnett go so soon after Tubbs the pair of whom had scored over half the goals this season.

Probably a good financial return but do the club really want to progress or will they reach that stage like quite a few other clubs do vegetate and then slip away to obscurity, no doubt time will tell but Mr Evans wont be around.

I'd be gobsmacked if they were in financial difficulty considering the two FA Cup runs they've had and a share of the Old Trafford spoils!

Was surprised by the sale of Tubbs, and for £800,000 i think. Sure i heard bids of £1 million + in the weeks leading up to him being sold. Was his contract up in the summer?

Also noticed their results had dropped since the sale of 2-3 players in the january sales. Thought they were comfortable finacially so why sell your better players?

Time will tell i guess.

More dropped points last night, to use a Kenneth Wostenholme'ism 'they think its all over, it is now'! Hope not but it must be giving the Evans camp some sleepless nights right now!...........Who'd be a manager?

As the saying goes - 'the king is dead, long live the king'. A somewhat suprising but not totally unexpected was the news of the 'king' leaving for greener fields a far, rumours had been rife for a while, what was the reason to leave for a club with little chance of promotion as against his own club with a good chance of promotion.

Many theories could be expressed from months ago as a starter, the selling of the clubs leading strikers
this does strike one as a 'cry for help' in respect of financial problems regarding wages, the general upkeep on a day to day basis, this being exacerbated by the poor crowdbase in respect to many other clubs in the division, thereby the growth pattern was restricted in his eyes for bigger crowds that would have generated more finance for enticing more class players to possibly 'knock on the new front door'.

As they say the 'king' is gone a big huge chapter has now ended, now one awaits the the next big chapter with baited breath, will it be continued progress or a return to the dark old days of stagnation?
