England V Croatia

Postby Mystery » Thu Sep 11 2008, 11:10

What did everyone make of that last night then? Or did nobody see it because it was on bloody setanta!

Thought sending off changed everything and england probably would of come away with a draw at best if it wasnt for the red card. I dont expect it to change anything for the future, we still seemed to lack ideas in the final third IMO.

I hope i am wrong!

Thought it was a good win and about time too. Although Setanta is still naff.

With 8 players with Champions league credentials and 7 from last years final why should we fear a team whose best player is Modric (Spurs) and the rest virtually unknown?
These players go to worse places and play better teams regularly in Champions league and get results.

Difference was that last night England played their own game without fear - pressing and fast tempo, just like the Premier. he may not be Berbatov, Torres or Drogba but at least Heskey is a reasonable target man, Cole and Walcott took the attack to Croatia whilst Lampard and Barry looked comforatble playing their normal games.

Man U /Chelsea back line looked the part though I still feel James is best of a not special bunch of keepers.

England looked good for the win before sending off although they then ran riot and should have been 5 - 0

Not sure how long it will last but lets enjoy it for now

Last nights performance instilled some confidence from a fans perspective. High tempo and pace just like the premiership and teams cant cope with it. When we slow it down and try and match the foreign teams at their own game we fail - play like last night with quick passing and high tempo and we will qualify and everyone will look forward to South Africa.

Joe Cole obviously doesnt watch Causalty

Spot on assesment IMO! Was defo looking good for the win, even before the sending off, but ran riot after! Every player doing their job, and maybe being away from Wembley with the fear and pressure factor gone, the players seemed to revel in that fact.

Hopefully after this England fans will once again fill Wembley and get right behind the team, rather than boo and curse!?.... Hopefully!

Perhaps if arsenal had more than one english player in their squad then they might feed the english squad instead of the french!
Southampton nurtured Theo then you stole him from there grasp and claim him as your own, you french pri*k!!!
